Proverbs 9

Proverbs 9:10-11

NIV:   The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For through me (wisdom) your days will be many, and years will be added to your life.

Message:   Skilled living gets its start in the Fear-of-God,
insight into life from knowing a Holy God. It’s through me, Lady Wisdom, that your life deepens, and the years of your life ripen.

What does it mean to “Fear the Lord?”

    To Fear – although at times we fear in a sense of being scared of what God might do, or feel that He is going to punish us for sins or wrong-doing. However, to fear the Lord is to be in AWE of Him that provides us forgiveness and the knowledge to understand what He guides us to – and that is a relationship with Him through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As long as we keep our eyes on the prize, we can’t go wrong!
