In our fast-paced, routine-filled world, it is so easy to get caught up in one way of thinking. Sometimes we find ourselves caught up in a world of routine; we wake up, breathe it in, go to work/school, endure traffic, enjoy 2 hours of socialization or prime-time television and then finally try to fall asleep. The said routine obviously needs to be followed, as that is the way our world is set up. I am really addressing the other routines we get caught in. Things like behaving a certain way or doing something just because “that’s how it’s always been done.” The statements “me being me” and “it’s just the way I am” scream “routine!” Sure, there are some things in life that we can’t control such as our height or skin color, but anything in regards to personality and habits can be changed. I want us all to stop and think about some of the things we do in life; think about things like the way we act. Ask yourself, – and I will use myself as an example – “why do I think it’s awkward saying ‘hello’ and ‘goodbye’ to people?”; “why am I afraid of the blood pressure monitors at the doctor’s office?” Generally speaking, ask yourself “why am I angry?”; “why am I sad?”; “why do I get mad when my church changes things?” At the end of each of our habitual routines we will find a fly caught in the spiderweb. We will find an answer, if we look. It’s not just the way “you are”. There is a reason. We all get so caught up in doing things a certain way and sometimes we don’t even know why we do them. How about we take a step back and look at everything we do and try to change some things. If you keep finding yourself feeling defeated because of one of your “routines”, don’t say “it’s just the way I am.” Get out of the web. Overcome!
If the problem is the very first routine I said, become a rockstar or conference speaker, otherwise, you’re stuck.
Do you have any things in your life that you do that you never knew why that you want to share? They can be funny or serious or related to cooking. Let’s start a conversation.
I agree. There are so many flies in everyone’s web. I have had to check myself many times in the past. Thankfully there are currently no flies in my web.
i get paranoid whenever i pass an aisle at a grocery store with pills everywhere.
it doesn’t annoy me,
it makes me…shiver.
currently, i’m not sure why i feel like that.
i shall find out soon enough.
I lately came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first remark. I don’t know what to say except that I have loved reading. Respectable blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
